Commissions

Commissions are works of art created for the client.  This can vary quite a bit depending on what the client wants.  I require a good-quality photo as a reference and must be pre-approved before starting.  Below is a few examples of commissions.  The artwork can be digital, watercolor, acrylic paint, or graphite.  The traditional art pieces and pricing is as follows.

Graphite.  Graphite art pieces are created on an illustration rigid board that is 100% acid-free.  The artwork once approved is then sealed to prevent smugging and can be then framed.  Framing of the art piece is an option but priced separately.  Commissioned graphic artworks are $2.00 a square inch.  So for example, an 11x14 graphite art piece would be 11x14 = 154 square inches and that is then times $2.00 a square inch to equal $308.00.

Watercolor.  Watercolor paintings are painted on a watercolor illustration rigid board that is 100% acid-free.  The painting is priced at $3.00 a square inch.  The finished painting is sprayed to protect the surface and delivered in an acid-free clear sleeve to protect the painting till it can be framed.  Framing service is available but not included in this price.

Acrylic Painting.  Acrylic Paintings are painted on treated stretched canvas.  The cost is $3.00 a square inch.  Finished paintings are varnished to protect the surface.  Varnishing adds to the delivery time as the final painting must be completely dry before varnishing.  The varnish also helps preserve the painting and protect it from altra-violet rays.  Framing is available but not included in this price.

Acrylic 11x14 on Canvas - Reference photo was by Gordon Parks, 1954 in Mobile Alabama.  The lady always admired this photo and wanted a commissed painting of it.

Graphite 16x20 on Illustration Board - The reference photo was from an iPhone Picture.

Graphite 16x20 on Illustration Board - Four photos provided by the client combined into one art piece.  Two of the beloved pets had passed away.
